Founder

Sarah Marie Mweze is the founder of Focus Afrika. She completed her PhD courses in Political Science, specializing in gender equality and political representation and International Cooperation. She holds a Master's degree in Social Welfare Policy and Administration, a Bachelor's degree in Social work and Community Development and a high school diploma in Social Techniques.

Her academic and professional work focus on advancing gender equality, promoting women's representation and addressing sexual violence - particularly those rooted in traditional practices and armed conflicts. Passionate about the empowerment of women and marginalized communities, she brings a grounded and intersectional perspective to development and policy research.

Driven by a deep concern for the quality of life of young Africans and inspired by South Korea's remarkable development, she envisions a future where Africa can draw practical lessons from the Korean experience. She aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice by promoting education as a pathway to sustainable development in Africa. She speaks French, English, Korean and Swahili fluently, has intermediate proficiency in Lingala and basic communication skills in Kirundi, Kinyarwanda and Kifuliru.
